Former NFL star Warren Sapp, now a senior quality control analyst for the Colorado Buffaloes, has high praise for the team's defensive line, describing them as having "bullets."
Deion Sanders' first year as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes ended with a 4-8 record, largely due to a porous defense. However, the team is looking to improve in this area, especially with the upcoming jump to the Big 12 Conference. Senior quality control analyst Warren Sapp believes the defensive line is key to this improvement.
"We got bullets," Sapp said. "You get shot with a .38 or 9mm, you pick it."

Sapp's analogy may be unconventional, but it conveys his belief in the versatility and effectiveness of the defensive line. Colorado wants to make it difficult for offensive lines to scheme against them by having a deep rotation of talented players.
Sapp also emphasized the importance of having a strong relationship with defensive line coach Damione Lewis. "We have a great push-pull relationship," Sapp said. "You know, see the game the same way, and just love it."

Lewis, a former Miami Hurricane like Sapp, has worked with him to develop a defensive line that can meet the challenges of the 2024 season.
Sapp's NFL credentials are impeccable. The four-time All-Pro and Hall of Famer played 13 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders, totaling 96.5 sacks and 578 combined tackles. His dominance on the field earned him unanimous All-American honors in 1994 and a Super Bowl championship with the Buccaneers.

Sapp's passion for the game is evident in his enthusiastic descriptions of the Buffaloes' defensive line. He believes they have the potential to be a formidable force and a key factor in the team's success in the upcoming season.
The Colorado Buffaloes open their season on September 1 against the Northern Colorado Bears. Fans are eagerly anticipating seeing the "bullets" in action as the team aims to prove its defensive prowess in the Big 12 Conference.
