Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has strongly condemned the possibility of election results being delayed after the election night, as suggested by a recent New York Times article. DeSantis argues that such delays would erode public trust in the electoral process and insists on having clear and timely results.
With just over 50 days remaining until the crucial 2024 presidential election, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has vehemently denounced the prospect of extended delays in declaring election results. DeSantis expressed outrage at the idea that the counting of votes could continue beyond election night, potentially resulting in a prolonged period of uncertainty.

In an interview with "Sunday Morning Futures" host Maria Bartiromo, DeSantis asserted that such delays would undermine the public's confidence in the electoral system. He argued that voters should expect clear results on election night to avoid confusion and mistrust.
"You'll have one candidate that may have a big lead because of Election Day votes and then people wake up the next morning and say, 'Yeah, my candidate's up 6%,' and then they keep counting the next day, and then they count more the next day, and then the lead flips," DeSantis explained.

He emphasized that even if there were no evidence of wrongdoing, the prolonged counting process would sow distrust in the election's integrity. DeSantis vowed that Florida, under his leadership, would follow its previous example from 2020 by swiftly counting all ballots and declaring the state's winner on election night.
"Count the votes on election night and report the results," DeSantis declared. "We can't be in a situation where you don't get the results for a few days. What is going on in those few days? Where are these votes coming from? Florida will report the results on election night. You can take that to the bank."
DeSantis Declares 'Outrageous' Delays in Election Results Unacceptable
The Republican-controlled state of Florida has enacted several measures to enhance election security, including requiring voter identification for each ballot cast and ensuring that illegal immigrants and other non-citizens are not eligible to vote. These actions are consistent with DeSantis's unwavering commitment to a fair and transparent electoral process.
DeSantis's stance aligns with a growing chorus of concerns about potential delays in election night results. The New York Times article cited the increasing prevalence of mail-in ballots as a potential factor contributing to extended counting times and the possibility of a "blue or red election night mirage."

DeSantis believes that these delays are unacceptable and has called for a return to the tradition of swift and decisive election night results. He argues that the public deserves to know the outcome of the election promptly and that any delays will only serve to erode trust in the system.
