A massive fire engulfed a vast shopping complex in the Polish capital of Warsaw, destroying over 80% of the structure and causing extensive damage. The blaze, which broke out on Sunday morning, sent thick plumes of black smoke billowing over the city, leaving traders in despair over the loss of their livelihoods.

In the heart of the Bialoleka district of Warsaw, a major shopping complex erupted in flames early Sunday morning, casting a long shadow of devastation over the Polish capital. The fire, which quickly escalated to a 5-alarm emergency, consumed a staggering 80% of the Marywilska 44 shopping complex, leaving behind a charred and smoldering ruin.

Firefighters from across the city battled the stubborn blaze for hours, their efforts hampered by the complex's vast size and the intense heat. Chemical and environmental rescue specialists joined the operation to mitigate potential hazards.

The inferno dealt a devastating blow to the thousands of traders who operated shops and service outlets within the complex. Many of the vendors were from Vietnam, and the Association of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs in Poland expressed their deep concern over the "great financial losses" suffered by the merchants.

"This is a terrible tragedy for thousands of merchants and their families," the association said.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing huge plumes of black smoke rising over the complex, casting a pall over the surrounding area. The Warsaw fire department confirmed that the roof of the building had collapsed, adding to the extent of the damage.

Miraculously, no injuries were reported, but the traders were left in shock and despair at the loss of their businesses. Some Vietnamese vendors attempted to enter the complex to retrieve their goods, but were prevented by security guards.

The authorities issued a text message warning Warsaw residents about the fire and advising them to stay indoors with windows closed. Mirbud, the industrial construction company that owns the shopping center, expressed its condolences to the affected traders.

Warsaw police have launched an investigation into the blaze, which began at approximately 3:30 a.m. local time. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The Warsaw city administration announced plans to discuss financial support for the small traders who lost their livelihoods in the fire. The complex was typically closed on Sundays due to a trade ban imposed by the previous government, but small businesses were exempt from the ban, allowing many shops to operate on weekends.

The devastating fire serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of livelihoods and the importance of fire safety measures in densely populated urban areas. As the investigation into the cause of the blaze continues, the affected traders and the Warsaw community grapple with the aftermath of this tragic event.
