Despite a disturbing hotel security footage showing Sean "Diddy" Combs allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, the Los Angeles District Attorney's office has stated that he cannot be prosecuted due to the statute of limitations. However, the video has sparked outrage and raised concerns, with some experts predicting federal racketeering charges against Combs.

Diddy Can't Be Prosecuted for 2016 Hotel Assault, But Video Raises Questions

**Los Angeles, CA** - In a shocking turn of events, the Los Angeles District Attorney's office has confirmed that rap artist Sean "Diddy" Combs cannot be prosecuted for an alleged assault on his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in 2016 due to the statute of limitations.

The decision was made after hotel security footage emerged depicting Combs allegedly brutally beating Ventura in a hallway while wearing only socks and a towel. The horrifying video appears to corroborate allegations made by Ventura in a lawsuit filed in November 2023, in which she accused Combs of physical and sexual abuse. She later dropped the case after an out-of-court settlement was reached.

Diddy Can't Be Prosecuted for 2016 Hotel Assault, But Video Raises Questions

"We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles," the District Attorney's office stated in a release. "We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch."

However, the statement continued, "If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would be unable to charge as the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted."

The release of the video has sparked outrage and raised concerns about Combs' behavior. Ventura's lawyer, Douglas Wigdor, told Fox News Digital that the footage "has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs."

"Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light," Wigdor said.

Experts believe that the video could have a significant impact on an ongoing federal investigation into Combs. Earlier this year, agents from Homeland Security Investigations raided Combs' mansions in Los Angeles and Miami.

Derrick Parker, a former investigator with the NYPD's rap intelligence unit, said that federal prosecutors are likely to react strongly to the footage.

"Everybody's gonna see this, and they're gonna see what a real dirtbag he is," Parker told Fox News Digital. "The public itself is gonna see him in a different light. The government now is likely gonna accelerate his case."

Parker predicted that federal racketeering (RICO) charges could be brought against Combs before July 4.

"This video is very damaging to his case," Parker said. "This is gonna hurt him badly, because it adds credence to what Ms. Ventura has been alleging about the abuse from him."

Combs has kept a low profile since his homes were raided in March. He has not publicly commented on the allegations or the release of the video.

The case has brought renewed attention to the issue of domestic violence and the importance of victims speaking out. Advocates say that the statute of limitations in assault cases can often be an obstacle to justice, and that victims deserve to have their voices heard and their rights protected.
