Connecticut Sun guard DiJonai Carrington has taken to social media to voice her frustration over the WNBA's lack of promotion for Tuesday's historic game, suggesting that it should have been nationally televised.
Connecticut Sun guard DiJonai Carrington has not shied away from expressing her disappointment with the WNBA's apparent failure to adequately promote a record-breaking game at TD Garden on Tuesday night.
Despite the game being a sellout, with a crowd of 19,125 cheering on the Sun to a 69-61 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks, Carrington took to social media to criticize the league's promotional efforts.

"Since we gotta do our own promo… We're playing at [TD Garden] tonight & it's SOLD OUT 19k+. First W game here ever. Historic. Not on tv, but you can catch it right here on twitter," Carrington tweeted, tagging the WNBA.
Carrington further elaborated on her stance during a post-game press conference, emphasizing that the league had ample time to organize promotions for the game, which was announced nearly a year ago.

"I'm gonna keep it real all the time, and I feel like Connecticut as a franchise is historically disrespected," she said. "Sometimes if you want something you gotta go out there and do it yourselves. So, that's what I did for us."
Carrington also expressed her dismay that the game was not broadcast nationally, stating that it should not require a paid subscription for fans to witness such a significant event.

"You shouldn't have to pay for any type of subscription to see a game that's this historic, in my opinion – I'm biased, but in my opinion," she said.
According to the Sun's public relations team, Tuesday's game marked the franchise's sixth sellout of the 2024 season and the third-highest attended WNBA game overall this year.
Carrington's outspokenness highlights the ongoing need for increased promotion and accessibility of WNBA games to expand the league's reach and further engage fans.
