British tennis player Jack Draper suffered from an on-court illness, vomiting multiple times during his semifinal match against Italian Jannik Sinner at the U.S. Open. Sinner also encountered physical issues, receiving attention for an injured wrist, highlighting the demanding conditions faced by both players in their quest to reach the final.
The intense pressure and demanding conditions of the U.S. Open took their toll on two of the tournament's top contenders, Jack Draper and Jannik Sinner, during their thrilling semifinal encounter.
Draper, the 25th-seeded player from Britain, experienced a debilitating on-court illness, vomiting multiple times during the second set of his match against Sinner. The 22-year-old British star described the ordeal as "the worst feeling ever," leaving him unable to move around the court effectively.

While Draper battled through his physical discomfort, Sinner also faced his own health challenges. The Italian star, ranked as the world's eighth-best player, received medical attention for an injured wrist during the match. The wrist injury appeared to hamper Sinner's backhand shots, and he was seen repeatedly flexing his left wrist after it was hurt.
Despite the adversity they faced, both Draper and Sinner displayed remarkable resilience and determination throughout the match. Draper, who entered the tournament as a relative unknown, played with a combination of power and finesse, challenging Sinner from the baseline and hitting some impressive winners.

Sinner, on the other hand, showcased his trademark aggression and athleticism, constantly moving his opponent around the court and forcing him to hit awkward shots. The Italian's powerful forehand and ability to change direction quickly proved to be too much for Draper to handle consistently.
As the match progressed, the temperature and humidity inside Arthur Ashe Stadium began to rise, further exacerbating the physical demands on the players. The conditions were reminiscent of a similar incident in 1996 when American tennis legend Pete Sampras was forced to vomit during a win over Alex Corretja.

During one changeover, a cleaner was called to clean up the area where Draper had thrown up, creating an unusual yet understandable scene. The match eventually went to four sets, with Sinner ultimately emerging victorious with a 7-6 (5), 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 scoreline.
Despite the setbacks they faced, both Draper and Sinner showed great character and sportsmanship throughout the encounter. Sinner acknowledged the physical nature of the match, while Draper praised his opponent's resilience in the face of adversity.
In the end, it was Sinner who reached his second Grand Slam final of the year, where he will face either Taylor Fritz or Frances Tiafoe in an all-American clash.
