Drew Bledsoe's Netflix roast joke about Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen's marriage sparked controversy, but it turns out he had some help writing it.

On Monday's "Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz," Bledsoe revealed that his wife came up with the joke, which he said was a replacement for a "far worse" one he had written.

"My wife helped me write something that was little more of a softball," Bledsoe said.

He didn't reveal the joke he initially wrote, but the one that made it into the roast was: "Obviously, buddy, you got really used to not being touched — just like the end of the marriage."

Bledsoe's joke was met with laughter from the audience, but Bündchen was reportedly not amused. People magazine reported that she was "deeply disappointed" with the jokes hurled at her during the roast and that their two children were "affected."

Bledsoe's joke was just one of many that poked fun at Brady's marriage to Bündchen, which ended in divorce in 2022 after 13 years.

Other comedians who made jokes about the divorce included Bill Burr, Sarah Silverman, and Nikki Glaser.

Brady has not publicly commented on the jokes, but a source close to him told People that he was "not thrilled" with them.

"Tom is a private person, and he doesn't like his personal life being the subject of jokes," the source said.

Despite the controversy, the roast was a success, with many fans praising the comedians for their sharp wit and humor.

Bledsoe's wife's contribution to the roast is a reminder that even the most seasoned comedians sometimes need a little help from their loved ones.

In other news, Brady is set to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2023 season. The 46-year-old quarterback announced his retirement in February, but he reversed his decision just 40 days later.

Brady is entering his 24th NFL season and is considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He has won seven Super Bowls, three NFL MVP awards, and five Super Bowl MVP awards.

The Buccaneers are hoping to make another run at the Super Bowl in 2023, and with Brady at the helm, they have a good chance of doing so.
