Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has expressed regret over the division caused by his endorsement of Joe Biden in the 2020 election and has decided not to endorse any candidate in the upcoming 2024 presidential race. The former wrestler and actor explained his decision, citing his desire to bring the country together in a time of increasing polarization.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has renounced his past endorsement of President Joe Biden and has announced that he will not be endorsing any candidate in the 2024 presidential election. Johnson made his first political endorsement in the 2020 election when he backed Biden, but he has since come to regret the division that decision caused.
In an interview on "Fox & Friends," Johnson said that his endorsement of Biden was "what I thought was the best decision for me at that time." However, he added that he has since realized that it "caused an incredible amount of division in our country."
"So I realize now going into this election, I'm not going to do that," Johnson said. "I wouldn't do that because my goal is to bring our country together. I believe in that, in my DNA. So in the spirit of that, there's going to be no endorsement."
Johnson's decision to not endorse any candidate in 2024 reflects a growing trend among celebrities. Many stars are choosing to stay out of the political fray, as the country becomes increasingly polarized.
"The View" co-hosts recently urged radio host Charlamagne tha God to endorse Biden, but he declined, saying that he prefers to focus on issues rather than individuals.
"I'm going to vote my best interest, and I’m going to vote for who I think can preserve democracy," Charlamagne said. "So if I think both candidates are trash and I don’t feel like endorsing one, would you rather me endorse an individual or endorse the fact that, hey, we need to go out and protect democracy."
Dwayne Johnson's decision to not endorse any candidate in 2024 is a sign of the times. As the country becomes increasingly divided, more and more celebrities are choosing to stay out of the political spotlight.
