The Philadelphia Eagles have issued a statement denying that an animated poster showing Kamala Harris in an Eagles helmet is an official advertisement from the team.
The Philadelphia Eagles have taken action after a "counterfeit" political advertisement endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election circulated on social media on Monday.
The Eagles released a statement denying that the poster, which showed Harris wearing an Eagles helmet, was an official advertisement from the team. The organization also stated that it was working to have the posters removed.

"We are aware counterfeit political ads are being circulated and are working with our advertising partner to have them removed," the Eagles said in a statement posted to social media.
Images of the fictitious poster, reportedly placed at a bus stop in Philadelphia, included the caption "Kamala, official candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles." The poster also featured a link to the Eagles' website where voting information could be found. However, the information on the website as of Monday afternoon appeared to be outdated.

According to CBS News, the poster is the latest creation of street artist Winston Tseng, who is known for using brands and advertising to communicate societal issues. Tseng has previously created posters endorsing other political candidates, including former President Donald Trump.
The Eagles' statement comes amid a growing trend of political advertisements being disguised as official team announcements. In 2020, the Atlanta Hawks were forced to issue a statement denying that a poster endorsing then-President Trump was an official advertisement from the team.

The proliferation of counterfeit political advertisements has raised concerns about the potential for voter confusion and misinformation. In the case of the Eagles' poster, the outdated voting information on the team's website could have misled voters who were not familiar with Harris's campaign.
The Eagles' swift response to the counterfeit advertisement is a reminder that teams need to be vigilant in protecting their brand and ensuring that their fans are not misled by unauthorized political messages.
