A manhunt in Ohio has ended after the suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a police officer was found dead inside a residence.

A tragic incident in Euclid, Ohio, has resulted in the death of a 23-year-old police officer, Jacob Derbin. On Saturday night, Officer Derbin was ambushed while responding to a disturbance call, succumbing to his injuries shortly after being transported to a local hospital.

The suspect, identified as Deshawn Anthony Vaughn, 24, was a convicted felon wanted for violating the conditions of his community supervision. Multiple law enforcement agencies collaborated to track down Vaughn, who was described as being heavily armed and possibly dangerous.

After an extensive manhunt, Vaughn was discovered deceased inside a residence on Sunday evening. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, and an investigation is currently underway.

Officer Derbin had been with the Euclid Police Department for approximately 10 months prior to his passing. His colleagues have described him as an "incredible" person with a warm and compassionate nature. Chief Scott Meyer expressed profound grief and devastation, stating that Derbin's presence within the department had had a positive impact.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost condemned the attack, vowing to pursue justice aggressively. He acknowledged the sacrifice made by Officer Derbin and extended condolences to the family, acknowledging the heightened sense of loss during Police Memorial Week.

Governor Mike DeWine also offered his deepest condolences to the Euclid community and the family of Officer Derbin. He ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in Cuyahoga County and throughout the state of Ohio in honor of Derbin's service and sacrifice.

Derbin's fiancée, Liv Wuebker, and her family expressed their heartbreak and gratitude for the life he shared with them. They were set to be married later this summer.

Skylar Wuebker, who would have become Derbin's brother-in-law, posted a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, expressing the family's profound sorrow and appreciation for Derbin's presence in their lives.
