In a dramatic final day of Group A, Germany and Hungary earned memorable victories to advance to the Round of 16, with both teams scoring stunning late goals. Germany's Niclas Füllkrug equalized in the 93rd minute to secure top spot, while Kevin Csoboth's goal for Hungary in the 99th minute is the latest ever in Euros history.

Germany will face the runner-up of Group C in the Round of 16 after securing a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Switzerland on Tuesday. Despite dominating possession, Germany found it difficult to break down a resolute Swiss defense until the dying moments.

Just when it seemed like Switzerland had earned a share of the spoils, Füllkrug emerged as Germany's savior. The striker, who had come on as a substitute in the 73rd minute, found the net with a stunning header in the 93rd minute to send the German contingent into raptures.

Germany's victory sees them finish Group A with eight goals, their highest tally in the group stage of a major tournament since the 2006 World Cup. The win also extends their unbeaten streak in the Euros to nine games.

While Switzerland ultimately fell short of victory, their performance against Germany was commendable. They defended stoutly throughout the match and created several good chances of their own.

One of the highlights for Switzerland was Dan Ndoye, who became their second-youngest goalscorer in Euros history at 23 years and 242 days. The striker's goal in the 63rd minute gave Switzerland a brief respite before Füllkrug's late equalizer.

Hungary's 1-0 victory over Scotland was equally dramatic and secured them a chance to advance to the Round of 16 as one of the four best third-placed teams. The match was evenly contested for long periods, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut opportunities.

However, in the 99th minute, Hungary substitute Kevin Csoboth produced a moment of magic. He received a pass from Roland Sallai on the left wing and unleashed a powerful shot that flew past Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

Csoboth's goal is the latest ever in regular time in Euros history, surpassing the previous record set by Slovakia's Vladimír Weiss in 2016. It also secures Hungary's third place in Group A and keeps their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.

Scotland's Euro 2024 campaign ended in disappointment as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Hungary. The result means Scotland has failed to win any of their six matches at the Euros, losing four and drawing two.

Scotland's struggles have been particularly evident in attack, where they have managed just three shots on target in three matches. Their total of 17 shots in the tournament is the lowest by a nation since the group stage was introduced in 1980.

Despite their disappointing exit, Scotland can take heart from the experience gained in their first major tournament since 1998. They will hope to build on this experience and return to the Euros in 2028 with renewed ambition.
