Europe's Progressive Earthquake: A Warning to America

Europe is experiencing a political shift as voters reject leftist policies and embrace conservative values. Led by the likes of Jordan Bardella in France, this resurgence reflects growing discontent with climate alarmism, unchecked immigration, and loss of sovereignty to the EU. As Americans head to the polls in November, will they follow Europe's lead and abandon Biden's agenda in favor of common sense?
In a remarkable political upheaval, Europeans are rejecting long-established liberal parties in favor of conservative leaders who promise to restore growth, sovereignty, and affordability. This trend is exemplified by Jordan Bardella, a 28-year-old right-wing populist who led his party to a commanding 31.5% of the vote in the recent EU election.

This electoral rebellion mirrors historical shifts in which voters have turned against the establishment and embraced conservative platforms. In 1979, Margaret Thatcher's Conservative Party defeated the dominant Labour Party in Britain, and eighteen months later, Ronald Reagan's conservative Republican Party trounced incumbent Democrat President Jimmy Carter in the United States. Both Thatcher and Reagan implemented policies of free markets, less regulation, and lower taxes, which revitalized their countries' economies.
Similarly, in 2016, British voters defied the establishment by opting to exit the European Union, and six months later, Americans ignored liberal elites and elected Donald Trump president. These victories underscored the growing disconnect between the establishment and ordinary citizens who feel unrepresented by the policies and rhetoric of the political left.
Europe's Progressive Earthquake: A Warning to America
In Europe, voters are particularly alarmed by the negative consequences of climate alarmism, which has led to the shutdown of fossil fuel plants and hasty conversion to unreliable renewable energy sources. These policies have driven up energy prices, damaged industries, and left countries vulnerable to disruptions in fossil fuel supply.
In Germany, for example, wholesale electricity prices have soared nearly 80% in the past five years, while in France, rising energy costs have fueled the Yellow Vest movement and protests by farmers. In the Netherlands, government plans to shut down thousands of farms to meet EU emission reduction goals have sparked outrage and led to the election of a far-right anti-immigrant leader.

The Green parties of Europe have also suffered significant losses in recent elections as voters reject their extreme climate agenda. In the U.S., President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act allocates hundreds of billions of dollars to reducing emissions and subsidizing electric vehicles, but the slow rollout of EV charging stations has raised doubts about the government's ability to effectively implement these policies.
Immigration is another major concern for European and American voters. Biden's open border policies have allowed millions of people to enter the U.S. illegally, straining resources and driving down low-end wages. In Europe, unchecked immigration has contributed to social tensions and a loss of cultural identity.
Europe's Progressive Earthquake: A Warning to America
As Americans prepare to vote in November, polls suggest that right-leaning politicians are poised to take power in numerous European countries, including France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. These potential victories would come on the heels of President Trump's predicted return to office.
The European political earthquake serves as a warning to America that voters are disillusioned with the excesses of progressive policies. The resurgence of conservative values reflects a desire for growth, sovereignty, and a return to common sense. Whether the United States will follow Europe's lead remains to be seen, but the writing on the wall is clear: the days of unchecked left-wing influence are numbered.
