Explosive testimony from a whistleblower before a Georgia Senate committee has cast doubt on Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis's claims regarding her alleged affair and the misuse of public funds.
A Georgia Senate committee investigating the Fulton County District Attorney's office has heard explosive testimony from a whistleblower that has raised serious questions about District Attorney Fani Willis's claims regarding her alleged affair and the misuse of public funds.
Amanda Timpson, a former director of juvenile diversion programs in Willis's office, testified that she was demoted and eventually fired after raising concerns about the office's misuse of federal grant money. Timpson also claimed that Nathan Wade, with whom Willis has been romantically linked, was involved in the interview process for new staff members shortly after Willis's election in 2020.
Republican state Sen. Bill Cowsert, who chairs the committee, expressed skepticism about Willis's claims that her relationship with Wade began after he was hired as a special prosecutor. "For a whole year, he was her confidant and collaborator on running the office before he gets hired," Cowsert said. "That's a dubious claim."
Cellphone data presented in a previous hearing allegedly showed that Wade made late-night visits to Willis's condo before he was hired. Attorneys for Willis have dismissed the reliability of cellphone geolocation data, but prosecutors are using similar data in another case.
Timpson's testimony also raised concerns about retaliation within the DA's office. She said she faced "overwhelming retaliation" after reporting the misuse of funds to Willis, who allegedly responded by demoting her to the position of file clerk.
Cowsert praised Timpson's credibility, noting that she had grown up in a gang-ridden neighborhood and had dedicated her life to keeping youth out of gangs. "It was like a dream job, really, for her… and then it was snatched away from her," he said.
The committee is expected to hold additional hearings over the next several months. Willis has declined to testify, but the committee has subpoena power. Willis has called the committee "unlawful."
Fox News Digital has reached out to Willis and Wade for comment.
The allegations against Willis and Wade have cast a shadow over her investigation into former President Trump's alleged election interference in Georgia. Willis has been accused of using the case as a political weapon, and her close relationship with Wade has raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest.
The Senate committee's investigation is likely to intensify the scrutiny of Willis's office and her handling of the Trump case. The outcome of the investigation could have significant implications for Willis's political future and the ongoing investigation into Trump's alleged election interference.
