Matthew Crooks, the father of Thomas Crooks, who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania, was seen in public for the first time since the incident. Investigators continue to piece together the motive behind the shooting.
On Monday, Matthew Crooks, the father of Thomas Crooks, the individual responsible for the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, was spotted in public for the first time since the incident occurred. The sighting was confirmed by a local business employee and a neighbor who recognized him from a photograph.
Thomas Matthew Crooks, who opened fire at Trump's rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, was killed by snipers after nicking the former president's ear and fatally injuring bystander Corey Comperatore. Two other individuals were also injured in the attack.

Investigators have conducted extensive visits to the family home of Crooks in their suburban Pittsburgh neighborhood since the shooting. However, when approached by Fox News Digital, the man identified as the father and a masked woman he was with declined to answer questions, stating that they would release a statement upon the advice of their legal counsel.
Matthew Crooks emphasized their need for privacy and requested space during this difficult time. "We just want to try to take care of ourselves right now," he said.

Investigators are collaborating with the Crooks family to establish a motive for the attempted assassination. It has been reported that Crooks' parents contacted the police hours before the incident, expressing concerns about his absence and well-being. However, it remains unclear whether they were aware of his possession of the AR-15 rifle registered to his father.
Matthew and Mary Crooks, the parents of Thomas Crooks, are licensed as professional counselors. Thomas Crooks graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2020 and received an associate's degree in engineering from the Community College of Allegheny County in May. He had planned to continue his education at Robert Morris University or the University of Pittsburgh.

Investigators are investigating how Crooks evaded security at Trump's rally and managed to climb onto the roof of an AGR manufacturing building to fire shots from approximately 150 yards away. He had reportedly been spotted with a rangefinder prior to the attack.
Lawmakers have visited the shooting site, and Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has testified before Congress regarding security lapses at the rally. A clear motive for the shooting remains elusive.

Crooks was a member of a local gun club and purchased ammunition before the attack. According to a former classmate, he had expressed a dislike for politicians and confronted him years earlier about his support for Trump.
Investigators are reviewing Crooks' online searches, which included dates and times of the Democratic and Republican national conventions, images of Trump and President Biden, and references to major depressive disorder.
