The FBI is seeking information on the whereabouts of Hamza Al Ghamdi, a former trusted associate of Usama bin Laden, in connection with his alleged involvement with al Qaeda. Ghamdi served as a member of bin Laden's security detail and played significant roles within the terror network over the years.

On the 23rd anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the FBI issued a call to the public for information on the whereabouts of Hamza Al Ghamdi, a once-close associate of Usama bin Laden. Ghamdi, a Saudi Arabian citizen, is wanted for questioning in connection with his alleged membership in al Qaeda.

During the period leading up to the 2001 attacks, Ghamdi served as a key member of bin Laden's security detail. According to Tony Molloy, the special agent in charge of the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force in New York, Ghamdi held significant roles within the terror network and participated in conflict zones.

"Ghamdi's affiliation with al Qaeda dates back to the late 1990s, when he engaged in violent jihad in foreign conflict zones," said Molloy.

Ghamdi fought alongside bin Laden against Russian troops in Afghanistan in the 1980s. He also participated in terrorist attacks in Tajikistan in the early 1990s and operated an al Qaeda guesthouse in Kabul, Afghanistan.

In the last battle of Tora Bora in 2001, Ghamdi fought alongside bin Laden, who later evaded capture and was killed by U.S. forces in 2011.

Ghamdi's activities extended beyond al Qaeda's membership. He worked closely with the group's senior leaders, including Ayman al-Zawahiri, who played a role in the September 11 attacks.

The FBI believes that Ghamdi may possess valuable information about al Qaeda's historical and current operations. Molloy emphasized that Ghamdi's proximity to senior leaders makes him a potential source of crucial intelligence.

Ghamdi is believed to be hiding somewhere in Afghanistan, possibly near the border with Pakistan. The State Department has offered a $5 million reward for his capture.

Despite passing time, the FBI remains committed to apprehending those involved in the September 11 attacks. Christie M. Curtis, acting assistant director in charge of the FBI's New York City Field Office, stated, "Twenty-three years later, the FBI is still seeking justice for the victims."

The FBI has clarified that Ghamdi is not to be confused with the same Hamza al Ghamdi who was one of the terrorists on United Airlines Flight 175, which crashed into the World Trade Center.
