Fever Overcome Halftime Deficit for First Win of 2024

The Indiana Fever rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Sparks 78-73 on Friday night. The victory marked the Fever's first win of the 2024 season and snapped a three-game losing streak.
LOS ANGELES – The Indiana Fever won, 78-73, against the Los Angeles Sparks (1-3) at Crypto.com Arena on Friday night. Indiana erased an 11-point halftime deficit to improve to 1-3 on the season.
The Sparks led by as many as 13 points in the first half, but the Fever chipped away at the lead and eventually took the lead for good with 3:27 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Victoria Vivians led the Fever with 21 points, while Aaliyah Boston added 18 points and 11 rebounds. Nneka Ogwumike led the Sparks with 22 points, and Te'a Cooper added 20 points.
The Fever shot 44.7% from the field, while the Sparks shot 42.9%. Indiana also outrebounded Los Angeles 40-34.
The Fever will return to action on Sunday when they host the Minnesota Lynx. The Sparks will play their next game on Tuesday when they host the Seattle Storm.
* The Fever's bench played a key role in the victory. Indiana's reserves outscored the Sparks' reserves 25-12.
* The Fever were able to slow down Nneka Ogwumike in the second half. Ogwumike scored 16 points in the first half, but was held to just six points in the second half.
* The Sparks' turnovers proved to be costly. Los Angeles committed 15 turnovers, which led to 18 points for the Fever.
Victoria Vivians was named the player of the game after scoring 21 points and grabbing five rebounds. Vivians was 9-of-15 from the field, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. She also had three assists and two steals.
The Fever will return to action on Sunday when they host the Minnesota Lynx. The Sparks will play their next game on Tuesday when they host the Seattle Storm.
