Despite mutual respect, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are locked in a war of words and intense training ahead of their July 20th boxing match. Paul has stated his intention to "end" Tyson, escalating the rivalry to new heights.
In the lead-up to their highly anticipated boxing match on July 20th, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson have engaged in a heated war of words and rigorous training sessions. Despite expressing admiration for each other, Paul has made bold statements, asserting his determination to end Tyson's illustrious career.
"I love Mike. I'm super respectful of him. It's an honor to be in the ring with him. But I have to end him," Paul told USA Today at Formula One's Grand Prix of Miami on Sunday.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has sanctioned the bout as a professional boxing match, with shorter rounds and heavier gloves. This official recognition underscores the seriousness of the event and its implications for both fighters' professional records.
"This will be a professional bout with a referee and judges and the results will count as part of the fighters' professional records. So – it's an actual competitive fight," a spokesperson for the agency told The Associated Press.
Paul, who boasts a 9-1 professional boxing record, is eager to avenge his only loss against Tommy Fury. He recently emerged victorious against Ryan Bourland in Puerto Rico via TKO.
Tyson, a legendary boxer with a 50-6 record, last fought professionally against Kevin McBride, suffering a defeat. His last bout was an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020.
The rivalry between Paul and Tyson has intensified with both fighters releasing videos of their intense training routines. Paul's relentless punching and speedwork have caught the attention of experts, while Tyson's experience and raw power remain formidable.
Former world champion boxer Timothy Bradley has predicted a knockout victory for Tyson, citing his superior experience and knockout power. However, Paul remains undeterred, confident in his ability to overcome the odds and achieve a historic upset.
The fight night promises to be an electrifying spectacle, with two determined fighters vying for victory. The outcome will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the boxing world and cement the legacy of both Paul and Tyson.
