Five Indiana Swimmers Electrocuted in 'Freak Accident'

Police say the incident occurred when a wire on a pool pump was pinched, causing a protective cover to break and expose the wire to the water. The five swimmers were transported to local hospitals for their injuries.
**Logansport, Indiana** - Five swimmers, including two adults and three juveniles, were electrocuted in a swimming pool in Logansport, Indiana, on Sunday afternoon.
According to police, the incident occurred at a home in the 2600 block of High Street just after 2:30 p.m. Police, firefighters, and medical personnel responded to the scene.

The five victims were transported to local hospitals for their injuries. Two of the juveniles were later transported to different hospitals for further treatment.
Police determined that a wire on a pool pump had been pinched, causing a protective cover to break and expose the wire to the water. The exposed wire made contact with the pool water and shocked the five swimmers.

The Logansport Police Department described the incident as a "freak accident."
"This was a tragic and unfortunate accident," said Logansport Police Chief Mike Culver. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families."
The Logansport Fire Department assisted in the investigation and provided medical assistance to the victims.
The incident remains under investigation.
