Police in the district responded to reports of burglaries and property damage in multiple neighborhoods early on Tuesday morning, leading to the arrest of five individuals on charges including burglary and fleeing from law enforcement.
Washington, D.C. police authorities report that a group of five suspects have been apprehended in connection with a string of break-ins and property damage incidents that occurred across multiple neighborhoods in the district early on Tuesday morning. The affected areas include City Center, Georgetown, the H Street Corridor, Logan Circle, and Columbia Heights.
"Throughout the night, groups of individuals engaged in vandalism and burglaries of businesses in our city," the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) stated in a formal statement, highlighting the targeted areas of City Center and Georgetown along with additional incidents in the H Street Corridor, Logan Circle, and north of Columbia Heights.

In response to the disturbances, the MPD swiftly increased its presence within the affected areas to address the reported burglaries and property damage. An ongoing investigation is underway, focusing on a total of six distinct burglaries and six separate incidents of property destruction.
Following an extensive operation, five suspects have now been taken into custody on multiple charges, encompassing both burglary and violations of the law related to fleeing from law enforcement. The MPD has affirmed its resolute stance against such offenses, vowing to hold the perpetrators accountable.
