The saga began when the victim contacted authorities to report that Nance had stolen her vehicle and had the audacity to call her afterwards to share the news. Nance then abandoned the vehicle at a Winn-Dixie supermarket on Marion Oaks Boulevard.

Officers located Nance and initially confronted him about the stolen vehicle. However, Nance denied any involvement. However, video surveillance footage captured him exiting the victim's vehicle at the supermarket, leaving no doubt about his role in the theft.

Marion County Sheriff's Office Lt. Paul Bloom commented on the unusual incident, expressing amusement at Nance's peculiar behavior. "It was kind of him to let her know he stole her car," Bloom quipped in a video statement released by police.

Nance's criminal record extends beyond this bizarre car theft incident. Court records reveal pending felony charges against him, including imprisonment, domestic battery, and battery on a law enforcement officer. These charges stem from an earlier incident in 2023.

According to a probable cause affidavit, authorities intervened in a domestic disturbance involving Nance and his partner. The partner alleged that Nance had unlawfully restrained her, grabbed her, and pushed her within their shared hotel room. Upon his arrest, Nance reportedly resisted deputies by "pushing" them.

In a separate incident in June 2020, Nance faced charges of domestic battery by strangulation. However, he pleaded not guilty in that case, and the charges were eventually dropped after the victim could not be located.

Nance's perplexing behavior in the recent vehicle theft incident has left authorities and the community baffled. The case serves as a reminder of the unpredictable and often bizarre nature of crime.
