Martin County Sheriff William Snyder spoke exclusively to Fox News Digital about the arrest of Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspect in the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Routh, who was armed with an AK-47 and bullet-deflecting ceramic plates, was arrested in neighboring Martin County after fleeing in a black Nissan.
Martin County Sheriff William Snyder provided exclusive details to Fox News Digital regarding the arrest of Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspect in the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Routh, 58, was described as oddly calm and detached when apprehended by law enforcement.
According to Sheriff Snyder, Routh had fled in a black Nissan after Secret Service agents fired shots upon spotting him poking a rifle through the fence surrounding Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Snyder found Routh's lack of reaction to the presence of helicopters and police lights suspicious.

"He had a very, very kind of detached, flat face. So I felt like it wasn't bothering him," Snyder said.
Routh, who was armed with an AK-47 and allegedly carried two backpacks, bullet-deflecting ceramic plates, and a GoPro camera, was located approximately 300 to 500 yards away from Trump, who was playing the fifth hole on Sunday.

The plot was thwarted when a Secret Service agent noticed the rifle and reported it. Snyder praised the quick thinking of local law enforcement, emphasizing the importance of protecting the former president.
"I think the men and women in law enforcement down in Palm Beach County did everything they could to keep President Trump safe. And I would suspect that they will now redouble their efforts and do even more in the future," he added.

Trump himself echoed Snyder's sentiments, commending the Secret Service's swift action during the incident. He was quickly escorted back to the clubhouse after the sound of gunfire.
This incident marks the second assassination attempt on Trump within two months. In July, the former president was shot in the right ear by a would-be assassin during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Despite the danger, Trump remains resolute and unwavering in his support for his supporters.
