Two foreign nationals were apprehended this month after attempting to breach the Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, a concerning incident that has spurred former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to question the details surrounding the incident.

The attempted breach occurred on May 3 when two individuals in a box truck were stopped at a gate at Quantico Marine Corps Base. According to military police officers, the driver claimed they were making a delivery to the post office on behalf of a subcontractor for Amazon.

However, due to the lack of affiliation with the base and the absence of approved credentials, the individuals were directed to a holding area for vetting.

Former Secretary Pompeo, now a Fox News contributor, has expressed his concern regarding the incident, emphasizing the importance of thoroughly investigating such attempts.

"Look, maybe they got the procedures right at the gate, but that's a dangerous time to catch someone who's trying to conduct malign activity against a very important facility, which Quantico certainly qualifies as," Pompeo said.

Pompeo further questioned the lack of information surrounding the incident, such as the contents of the duo's phones, their communication records, and potential connections to larger networks.

"None of those questions have been answered," Pompeo lamented. "Somehow, there's a suggestion that these two folks were just out on a drive and decided to pull up to Quantico. I suspect that will prove not to be the case, and we need to know the full scale of what the effort was to breach this important military facility."

Pompeo's concerns align with the ongoing debate surrounding border security and the heightened risk posed by individuals crossing the border who may have connections to terrorist organizations.

The two foreign nationals involved in the Quantico attempt have been identified as Jordanians and are currently in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and further details are expected to be released as they become available.

The attempted breach at Quantico Marine Corps Base highlights the continued importance of vigilance and security measures to safeguard sensitive military installations. The full extent of the incident remains to be determined, but the concerns raised by former Secretary Pompeo underscore the need for thorough investigations and transparency in addressing such threats.
