Republican Senate candidate Steve Garvey highlights inflation, crime, and border issues as his top concerns, pledging to bring "political courage" to Sacramento.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, former MLB star and Republican Senate candidate Steve Garvey expressed his determination to tackle California's pressing issues if elected in November. Garvey, who played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, believes it's time for a change in the Golden State's political landscape.
"Californians are tired of the current statewide and national policies on inflation, crime, and the border," Garvey said, emphasizing the need for political courage to address these challenges.

Garvey's campaign has gained momentum since his victory in the state's jungle primary in March, where he surpassed several Democrat challengers. He aims to become the first Republican senator from California since 1992.
"I think we've run a very good race," Garvey said. "We've got a great team. We built momentum."

Highlighting the cost of living crisis in California, Garvey stressed the need for common sense and consensus building. He pointed to a recent PODS report that found that California's cost of living is approximately 50 percent higher than the national average.
"People are tired of the economy. They're tired of crime in the streets," Garvey said.

Border security was also a key focus for Garvey, who sees it as a direct influence on the lives of Californians. He called for a return to law and order on the border, emphasizing that he would be a strong advocate for more security.
"The border issue is just horrendous now," Garvey said. "We need to get back to law and order on our borders."

Garvey criticized incumbent Democratic congressman Adam Schiff, who is competing for the Senate seat held by the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, claiming that he had failed the people of California.
Garvey highlighted the possibility that Wednesday's Republican versus Democrat congressional baseball game could set the tone for the battles on the ballot in November.
"I think it sets the tone because there's so much at stake," Garvey said. "There's a lot of competitive races all over."
Garvey's candidacy marks a significant challenge to California's long-standing Democratic dominance in the Senate. His emphasis on economic recovery, public safety, and border security resonates with many voters who are seeking a different approach to the state's governance.
