Fox News Channel achieved a resounding ratings triumph during the 2024 Republican National Convention, solidifying its dominance over its competitors and capturing a historic audience.

On the evening former President Donald Trump accepted his party's nomination for a third time, Fox News drew an impressive 9.8 million viewers, with 1.9 million in the coveted 25-54 age demographic, from 10:30 p.m. to midnight ET on Thursday.

Throughout the four-day convention, Fox News maintained a commanding lead, finishing with an average audience of 6.6 million viewers and 1.1 million in the 25-54 demo during primetime. The network's total day average reached nearly 3 million viewers, with 446,000 in the 25-54 demographic, reflecting a significant increase from the 2016 RNC.

Fox News' dominance was particularly evident during Trump's acceptance speech. At the 10 p.m. hour, when Trump spoke, the network broke records with the highest-rated convention coverage since 1992, averaging 10.4 million viewers and 2 million in the key demographic.

"The Five," the most-watched show on cable news this year, attracted 4.2 million viewers and 413,000 in the demo at 5 p.m. ET. "Special Report with Bret Baier" followed up the next hour with 3.8 million viewers and 438,000 in the demo.

In addition to its television ratings, Fox News also triumphed in digital metrics. Fox News Digital surpassed CNN, The New York Times, and other major news brands in key metrics during the second quarter of 2024, demonstrating the network's comprehensive leadership across platforms.

Despite efforts by CNN and MSNBC to challenge Fox News' dominance, the network maintained its overwhelming lead. Throughout primetime, Fox News commanded nearly 75% of the cable news audience, while CNN attracted only 1.1 million viewers and MSNBC drew just 1.1 million viewers.
