Fox News Dominates Cable News in August, Crushes Competition

Fox News Channel continues to lead the cable news landscape, finishing August as the most-watched network in all of cable, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Fox News Channel has once again emerged victorious in the highly competitive cable news arena, dominating all of cable in viewership for the month of August. The network's success was fueled by extensive coverage of major news events, including the historic Democratic and Republican National Conventions.
Throughout August, Fox News averaged an impressive 1.4 million total day viewers, significantly outperforming MSNBC's 1 million viewers and CNN's 615,000 viewers. This dominance extended to the coveted primetime hours of 8-11 p.m. ET, where Fox News garnered an average of 2.3 million viewers, compared to MSNBC's 1.8 million and CNN's 1.1 million.

Fox News's success was not limited to total viewership; the network also crushed the competition among the advertiser-coveted demographic of viewers ages 25-54. During total day programming, Fox News averaged 190,000 demo viewers, while CNN and MSNBC managed only 123,000 and 121,000, respectively. In primetime, Fox News's dominance was even more pronounced, with the network averaging 288,000 demo viewers to MSNBC's 246,000 and CNN's 240,000.
Among individual programs, the iconic "The Five" reigned supreme, averaging 3.3 million viewers to top the list of most-watched cable news programs in August. Other popular shows included "Jesse Watters Primetime," "Hannity," "Gutfeld!," and "The Ingraham Angle."

"Gutfeld!" stood out in the demo category, averaging 365,000 viewers to claim the top spot. Jesse Watters Primetime," "Hannity," "The Five," and "The Ingraham Angle" rounded out the top five in that category.
In addition to its dominance in primetime, Fox News also performed strongly in other time slots. "Special Report with Bret Baier," "FOX & Friends FIRST," "FOX & Friends," "America's Newsroom with Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino," "The Faulkner Focus," "Outnumbered," "America Reports" with John Roberts and Sandra Smith, Martha MacCallum's "The Story," "Your World with Neil Cavuto," and "FOX News @ Night" all contributed to Fox News's overall success.

On Saturdays, "Life, Liberty & Levin" emerged as the most-watched cable news show, averaging 1.5 million viewers. On Sundays, the show repeated its success, capturing the top spot with 1.7 million viewers.
Fox News Media's Digital division also made significant strides in August. Fox News Digital surpassed CNN and The New York Times in key metrics, further solidifying the network's dominance in the digital realm.
