Fox News Channel emerged as the leading source of information and analysis during last week's historic news events, securing the highest television ratings among primetime viewers and topping competitor channels in key metrics.
Fox News Channel cemented its position as a trusted news source during a week of pivotal political developments, including the aftermath of the assassination attempt on former President Trump, JD Vance's selection as Trump's running mate, the Republican National Convention, and President Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 presidential election.
During this news-packed period from July 15-21, Fox News emerged as the most-watched television channel among primetime viewers, beating out all broadcast competitors and posting its highest ratings since the 2020 election. Notably, Fox News outperformed CNN and MSNBC in all categories, including total day and primetime viewership.

Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier anchored live coverage of the Republican National Convention, where Fox News captured an impressive 75% share of the entire cable news primetime audience between 8-11 p.m. ET. During the RNC, Fox News averaged a staggering 6.7 million viewers, dwarfing CNN's 1.2 million and MSNBC's 1.1 million average viewership.
Fox News also broke the news of President Biden's decision to withdraw from the 2024 race before its competitors. Anchor Mike Emanuel informed viewers at 1:50 p.m. ET, while Fox News continued to provide comprehensive coverage as the story unfolded.

From 2-4 p.m. ET, Fox News garnered an average audience of 3.5 million viewers, while CNN and MSNBC each drew two million viewers. Fox News then dedicated its primetime programming to cover Biden's withdrawal, attracting an audience of 3.3 million.
Throughout the week, Fox News averaged 2.5 million total viewers, far surpassing MSNBC's 716,000, CNN's 571,000, and other channels. During primetime, Fox News maintained a lead with five million viewers, followed by ESPN's 1.3 million.

In terms of advertiser-coveted demographics, Fox News excelled among adults aged 25-54. With 376,000 total day viewers, Fox News led ESPN's 174,000 viewers. During primetime, Fox News secured 790,000 demo viewers compared to ESPN's 528,000.
Overall, Fox News's dominance in news coverage during this politically significant week underscores its reputation as a trusted provider of information and analysis. By topping CNN and MSNBC combined in all categories, Fox News affirmed its position as the leading news organization for Americans seeking in-depth coverage of major events.
