The inaugural Gamescom Latam event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, last week showcased Latin America's burgeoning presence in the gaming industry. As part of the festivities, game awards highlighted the region's contributions to the global gaming landscape. After much anticipation, the award for "Best Mobile Game" went to Triband ApS' What the Car?

The Gamescom Latam event, held in the vibrant city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, served as a fitting stage to celebrate the growing influence of Latin America in the gaming world. The industry's finest came together for a night of recognition, with the game awards taking center stage.

Out of the 13 categories, the "Best Mobile Game" award garnered particular attention. After a rigorous selection process by a panel of 49 judges, the coveted title was bestowed upon Triband ApS' What the Car?

What the Car? had already made waves in the gaming community, earning a spot on Jupiter Hadley's list of ten overlooked gems. The game's triumph at Gamescom Latam further solidifies its reputation as an exceptional mobile experience.

While What the Car? emerged victorious, the other nominees in the "Best Mobile Game" category also deserve their due. Junkworld, Bella Pelo Mundo, An Elmwood Trail, Sibel's Journey, Residuum Tales of Coral, and SPHEX all made it to the final shortlist, attesting to the quality of mobile gaming in Latin America.

Beyond the "Best Mobile Game" category, Gamescom Latam honored outstanding achievements in various aspects of gaming. Chants of Sennar received the top accolade for "Game of the Year," while Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure took home the "Best Game from Latin America" award. Momodora: Moonlit Farewell was crowned "Best Brazilian Game," and Extremely Powerful Capybaras won the award for "Best Multiplayer."

Other notable winners included Station to Station for "Best Casual Game," Dordogne for "Best Audio," Harold Halibut for "Best Art," and Once Upon A Jester for "Best Narrative." In the realm of immersive experiences, Sky Climb won the award for "Best XR/VR," while Pacific Drive triumphed in the "Best Gameplay" category. Finally, Dark Crown received recognition for its exceptional pitch in the "Best Pitch from Regional Game Development Associations" category.

The Gamescom Latam awards ceremony showcased the breadth and depth of gaming talent in Latin America. With What the Car? leading the charge, mobile gaming in the region is poised for even greater recognition.
