Country music legend Garth Brooks has denied allegations of sexual assault and battery, calling them "extortion" and "lies." The allegations were made by a former makeup artist for Brooks in a lawsuit filed on Oct. 3.

In a statement obtained by Fox News Digital, Brooks said he has been "hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars."

"It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face," Brooks said. "Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money.  In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of — ugly acts no human should ever do to another."

Brooks said he filed a lawsuit against the makeup artist nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. He said he filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides.

"I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now.  I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be," Brooks said.

The makeup artist, who is identified in the lawsuit as "Jane Roe," alleges that Brooks raped her during a 2019 work trip. She claims that Brooks began making inappropriate advances toward her in 2017, and that she repeatedly rebuffed his advances.

The case is still pending, and no trial date has been set.

Brooks is one of the most successful country music artists of all time. He has sold more than 148 million albums worldwide and has won numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards and 18 Country Music Awards.

He is also known for his philanthropy, and he has donated millions of dollars to various charities.

The allegations against Brooks have come as a shock to many of his fans. Brooks has a reputation for being a kind and generous person, and many people have expressed disbelief that he could be capable of such a crime.

However, it is important to remember that Brooks is innocent until proven guilty. The allegations against him are just that: allegations. He has not been convicted of any crime, and he has denied all wrongdoing.

It is important to let the legal process play out before making any judgments.
