Authorities have uncovered disturbing evidence linking the Georgia school shooting suspect, Colt Gray, to a social media account inspired by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter and writings in his room referencing the Parkland High School massacre.
Authorities investigating the tragic shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia have uncovered chilling evidence pointing to the alleged shooter's obsession with previous school massacres. Colt Gray, the 14-year-old suspect, is believed to have been inspired by the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter and had writings referencing the 2018 Parkland High School massacre in his possession.
Investigators discovered that Gray had made shooting threats in the past on the messaging app Discord. One user profile used by Gray was written in Russian and translated to the name Lanza, referring to Adam Lanza, the gunman behind the Sandy Hook shooting in Connecticut. The account featured comments threatening to shoot up a school.

According to a newly released police report, the FBI received tips from users in California and Australia about the online threats. The email associated with the Discord account was linked to Gray, suggesting that he was the author of the menacing messages.
Interviews with Gray and his father, Colin Gray, conducted in May 2023, revealed inconsistencies. Both denied speaking Russian or knowing anything about the threats. However, audio from the interview shows that Colt Gray was "calm and reserved" during the questioning.

Despite the denials, authorities found troubling documents in Gray's bedroom referencing the Parkland massacre. CNN reported that the writings may provide insights into his motive, which remains unclear.
Colt Gray's mental health issues and struggles at school were also discussed. His father, Colin Gray, told police that his son faced bullying and had difficulty adjusting to his parents' divorce. Colin Gray admitted that he knew his son had access to a weapon and understood its dangers.

In a shocking turn of events, Colin Gray has also been arrested and charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children for allegedly allowing his son to possess a weapon.
The investigation into the Georgia school shooting has raised serious concerns about the potential links between online extremism and school violence. The authorities are working to determine the full extent of Colt Gray's connections to previous mass shootings and his motive for the deadly attack.
