Nearly 40,000 people gathered in Wildwood, New Jersey, on Saturday for a Donald Trump campaign rally, and among the attendees was legendary footballer Lawrence Taylor.

Taylor, considered by many to be the greatest defensive player of all time, was spotted at the Jersey Shore rally, surprising attendees and making headlines. Assemblyman Paul Kanitra from New Jersey's 10th legislative district had the privilege of meeting "his favorite player growing up" at the event.

To the delight of the crowd, Taylor and his former Giants teammate Ottis Anderson took to the stage to address the audience. "I grew up a Democrat, and I've always been a Democrat, until I met this man right here," Taylor declared, drawing loud cheers. "Nobody in my family ever will vote for a Democrat again."

Taylor's political affiliation has been a subject of speculation in the past, but his endorsement of Trump came as a shock to many. The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year elaborated on his decision, explaining that it was Trump who inspired him to change his political allegiance.

"I met him, and I got to know him, and I realized he's the real deal," Taylor said. "He's a leader, and he's a winner, and he's going to make America great again."

Taylor's endorsement is a significant boost for Trump's campaign, given the former linebacker's iconic status in the NFL. Taylor's illustrious career includes two Super Bowl victories, 10 straight Pro Bowl selections, and the MVP award for the 1986 season. He also holds the Giants' all-time sacks record, with 9½ sacks in his rookie season alone.

Despite his on-field success, Taylor's personal life has been marred by legal troubles, which have been attributed to his lavish lifestyle off the field. However, many attendees at the rally expressed their belief that Trump can bring about a positive change in the Garden State, potentially flipping it in November's election.

Rod Delaine, an Amazon factory worker from Staten Island who resides in New Jersey, drove nearly 2½ hours to attend the rally. "I think he's going to win," Delaine stated. "I think he's going to win because he's got the base. He's got the people behind him. And he's got the right message."

A New Jersey schoolteacher who identified herself as Anna was motivated to attend due to concerns about the state of the economy. Carlos, another attendee, believes the country needs to return to the policies implemented during Trump's previous presidency.

"I think this country needs to change. Although, we already know what Trump's all about. So, that change is just going to come right back to us because that's what we need," Carlos said. "We need Trump because I don't think Biden is just getting the job done right now. Some of it's his fault. Some of it is probably the people around him. But I think we need Trump back to get this country back to where it needs to be."
