Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough vehemently deny allegations that Graceland, the legendary mansion of Elvis Presley, has gone into foreclosure. The family is contesting the legality of a purported sale, alleging that it is fraudulent and has no basis in fact.
Standing tall amidst rolling hills in Memphis, Tennessee, Graceland has long been a symbol of American music icon Elvis Presley. The estate's legacy, however, has recently been marred by sensational claims that it has gone into foreclosure. Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough, the joint custodians of Graceland, have swiftly denounced these allegations as false and misleading.
The claims stem from Naussany Investments and Private Lending, a company that asserts Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis's only child, put Graceland up as collateral on a debt that remained unpaid at the time of her death in January 2023. However, Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough maintain that the purported sale is illegitimate and that Graceland remains firmly in their possession.
Their attorney, Roger W. Briggs, Jr., has denounced the allegations as "an unfortunate and malicious attempt to tarnish the reputation of Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough." He further stated that they are "exploring all legal options" to defend their family's legacy and prevent any unauthorized attempts to claim ownership of Graceland.
Elvis Presley acquired Graceland in 1957 for a mere $102,500. Over the years, it transformed into a sanctuary for the King of Rock and Roll and his family. Following his untimely passing in 1977, Graceland was inherited by Lisa Marie Presley, who lived there until her death in 2023.
In 1982, Priscilla Presley, Elvis's former wife and Riley Keough's grandmother, opened Graceland to the public as a museum. Today, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the United States, drawing millions of visitors annually who come to pay homage to the legendary musician.
The mansion and its sprawling grounds house an extensive collection of Elvis's personal belongings, stage costumes, and artifacts from his illustrious career. Graceland also serves as a burial site for Elvis, his parents, and Lisa Marie Presley's son, Benjamin Keough.
The claims of foreclosure have cast a cloud over the future of Graceland. However, Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough are determined to protect the estate's legacy and ensure that it remains a testament to Elvis Presley's enduring impact on the world.
The legal battle over Graceland is expected to be a protracted one. Graceland remains open to the public, and visitors are still able to experience the magic and history of the iconic estate.
