Graceland Foreclosure Dispute: Riley Keough Claims Fraud

Graceland, the iconic estate of Elvis Presley, is at the center of a legal battle, with granddaughter Riley Keough claiming that an attempted foreclosure on the property is a fraud.

In a lawsuit filed in Shelby County Chancery Court, Keough alleges that an LLC called Corelio Graceland Trust forged documents that purport to give it ownership of Graceland. The lawsuit seeks to have the foreclosure attempt declared void and to prevent the LLC from taking any further action against the property.

Keough is the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis's only child, who died in January 2023. Keough is one of the four co-trustees of the Elvis Presley Trust, which owns Graceland.

The lawsuit alleges that Corelio Graceland Trust is a shell company created by a convicted felon named Barry Siegel. Siegel has a history of involvement in fraudulent schemes, including a Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors out of millions of dollars.

According to the lawsuit, Siegel forged documents that purport to show that he acquired Graceland from Lisa Marie Presley in 2019. These documents are allegedly false, and Lisa Marie Presley never sold Graceland to Siegel or to Corelio Graceland Trust.

The lawsuit also alleges that Corelio Graceland Trust has attempted to foreclose on Graceland by filing a notice of default with the Shelby County Register of Deeds. This notice of default is also allegedly false, as Corelio Graceland Trust does not have a valid mortgage on the property.

Keough's lawsuit seeks to have the foreclosure attempt declared void and to prevent Corelio Graceland Trust from taking any further action against the property. The lawsuit also seeks damages for fraud, defamation, and other torts.

A hearing on Keough's request for a temporary injunction to stop the foreclosure is scheduled for March 9, 2023.

In a statement, Graceland's management company, Elvis Presley Enterprises, said that it is aware of the lawsuit and is "confident that the allegations will be proven to be false." The company said that it is "committed to protecting the legacy of Elvis Presley and his beloved Graceland."

The foreclosure dispute is the latest in a series of legal battles over Graceland. In 2018, Lisa Marie Presley sued her former business manager, Barry Siegel, for allegedly mismanaging her finances and selling off her assets without her knowledge. The lawsuit was settled out of court.

In 2020, Keough and her brother, Benjamin Keough, filed a lawsuit against their grandmother, Priscilla Presley, over the management of the Elvis Presley Trust. The lawsuit was also settled out of court.

Graceland is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the United States, with over 600,000 visitors each year. The estate is home to Elvis's mansion, as well as a museum and other attractions.
