As the 2024 presidential election draws near, the battle for the crucial swing state of New Hampshire is heating up, with Republicans eyeing the Granite State as a potential pickup. Tom Moulton, an independent voter and business owner from New Hampshire, has grown disillusioned with the Democratic Party, which he believes has lost touch with the American experience.

"I grew up in the ‘60s and ’70s, and the [Democratic] Party has completely changed. I feel they have no relevance on what the American experience is," Moulton told Fox News. "I have to look at immigration, inflation, the debt, etc. and I don't think they have any relevancy anymore, at least to what my core values are. Unfortunately, the Democrats just don't resonate with me."

Moulton's dissatisfaction extends to potential Democratic presidential candidates, such as California Governor Gavin Newsom and Vice President Kamala Harris.

"Neither Newsom nor Harris excite me] at all. I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to see what's going on in the country," he said.

Tiani Coleman, president of New Hampshire Independent Voters, echoed Moulton's concerns about the two-party system.

"There are 51% of independent voters now in the nation, according to a recent Gallup poll, and they are the swing voters," Coleman said. "What independent voters are feeling right now is that they are discouraged with the choices that the two parties offer. We have never been so discouraged with the two-party system, so we are looking for a candidate who is not part of the party machine, who is going to be able to work across the aisle and work with both parties and independent voters included in the process."

The frustration among independent voters is a major concern for Democrats, who have traditionally relied on their support to win elections in New Hampshire. In 2020, President Biden won the state by just 0.4%.

Republicans, eager to flip the Granite State red, are hoping to capitalize on the disillusionment with the Democratic Party. Former President Trump, who narrowly lost New Hampshire in 2020, is widely expected to run for president again in 2024.

Moulton expressed a desire for a leader who can provide honest leadership and address the pressing issues facing the country.

"I'm an American. I bleed red, white and blue. I love this country. I want to get somebody that's going to be honest and give us some good leadership to straighten this out, because if we lose this, there's no place else to go in the world, really, to have the kind of lifestyle that we have," Moulton said.

The battle for New Hampshire in 2024 is shaping up to be a close race, with independent voters holding the balance of power. The outcome of the election could have significant implications for the future of the Democratic Party and the direction of the country.
