Journalist Mark Halperin claims that Vice President Kamala Harris is losing ground to former President Donald Trump in swing states and could be in an even worse position by mid-September.

Journalist Mark Halperin has sounded the alarm over Vice President Kamala Harris's prospects in the upcoming midterm elections, arguing that she is not leading former President Donald Trump in key battleground states and could face a significant deficit by mid-September.

Halperin's assessment is based on recent public and private polling that suggests Harris is trailing Trump in several key battleground states, including Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina. While some polls show Harris marginally ahead in some states, Halperin notes that the differences are within the margin of error.

"There's some public polling already, there's more coming. There's some private polling that suggests that nationally in the battleground states, she's not ahead," Halperin said in a livestream on his media platform 2WAY.

Halperin warns that Trump is gaining momentum and could overtake Harris in several swing states, particularly if he can effectively target her weaknesses. "And it may be, regardless of what happens in the interview and regardless of what happens in the debate – it may be that by the middle of September when things have calmed down, when the Trump campaign have had time to prey on some of the weaknesses that I suggested – that he's ahead in all the Sun Belt states."

Halperin also raises concerns that Harris could slip to where Biden was in battleground state polls taken earlier this year – significantly behind Trump. Trump could end up "ahead in Pennsylvania, and competitive in Michigan and Wisconsin," he said, "which would be roughly where Joe Biden was before the debate, with a single path to 270 electoral votes."

Halperin's analysis is particularly noteworthy given his track record of accurately predicting political outcomes, including President Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race. His concerns about Harris's prospects could potentially impact the Democratic Party's strategy in the upcoming midterm elections and raise questions about her viability as a potential future presidential candidate.

It is important to note that Halperin's analysis is based on current polling data and his own interpretation of the political landscape. The actual outcome of the midterm elections could differ significantly from his predictions. However, his warnings should serve as a wake-up call for the Democratic Party and reinforce the importance of running a strong and effective campaign to prevent potential losses in key swing states.
