The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) has released footage and photographs allegedly showing Hamas terrorists operating within a UNRWA base in Rafah, Gaza. The IDF claims the individuals were armed and firing weapons from the compound.
The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) has released drone footage and photographs that it claims depict Hamas terrorists operating within a United Nations Relief & Works Agency (UNRWA) compound in the Gaza city of Rafah.
IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stated on Tuesday evening, "Today, we revealed unusual footage of armed terrorists next to UN vehicles, which we located a few days ago, and shooting inside an UNRWA compound in eastern Rafah."
The IDF has shared the findings with senior members of the international community and urged an investigation into the alleged connection between UNRWA's logistics centers and Hamas operatives.
Fox News Digital has not independently confirmed the identity or affiliation of the three individuals marked by the IDF in its release.
The individuals identified by the IDF as combatants are seen carrying firearms and interacting with UN-branded vehicles. Footage shows them exiting the compound and firing at individuals the IDF claims were civilians.
Another piece of footage published by the Israeli Defense Force is claimed to show the Hamas combatants firing weapons from the entrance to the UNRWA compound.
The IDF has contacted UNRWA leadership about the incident and urged an investigation. "We forwarded the findings to senior members of the international community, and called on the UN to urgently investigate the connection between UNRWA’s logistics centers to Hamas operatives by their vehicles," Hagari said.
The Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), an agency within the Israeli Ministry of Defense, also urged the UN to conduct an urgent investigation.
Fox News Digital reached out to the United Nations Relief & Works Agency for comment but did not receive a response.
The alleged involvement of Hamas in UNRWA's operations raises concerns about the safety and neutrality of the organization. UNRWA provides humanitarian aid to Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip and other areas.
The IDF has accused Hamas of exploiting UNRWA's infrastructure for military purposes, including storing weapons and launching attacks. These allegations could damage the reputation of UNRWA and undermine its ability to provide assistance to vulnerable populations.
Independent investigations are crucial to shed light on the alleged involvement of Hamas in UNRWA's operations. The international community and UN leadership must hold both Hamas and UNRWA accountable for any misuse of humanitarian resources.
Transparency and accountability are essential for maintaining the integrity of humanitarian organizations and ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most.
The IDF's allegations against Hamas and UNRWA raise serious concerns about the neutrality and safety of humanitarian aid operations in the Gaza Strip. Independent investigations are necessary to determine the validity of these allegations and to ensure that humanitarian assistance is not being exploited for military purposes.
