Fox News host Sean Hannity unleashed a blistering attack on the New York v. Trump trial on Tuesday's "Hannity," calling it a "kangaroo court" and a "disgusting abuse of power."
"This is what the weaponization of justice in America looks like. This is what shredding our sacred Constitution looks like," Hannity declared.
Hannity accused the Democratic activist judge presiding over the case of being eager to lock up former President Donald Trump, regardless of the verdict.
"This unconstitutional gag order bars Trump from defending himself," Hannity said. "It doesn't stop the other side from saying and doing anything they want, even as witnesses are smearing Trump all over social media and on conspiracy channels like 'MSDNC' [MSNBC]."
Hannity also criticized the judge for fining Trump thousands of dollars for exercising his First Amendment rights and threatening to send him to prison.
"Fellow Democrat, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, now says Rikers Island is ready and willing to receive the former president of our country," Hannity said. "This is a disgusting abuse of power from a judge and state prosecutors and everyone else in Biden's orbit who is using our legal system to destroy their political rivals."
Hannity warned that no Republican was safe in the state of New York under the current administration.
"They're coming for Trump today," Hannity said. "But tomorrow, they'll be coming for you. This is a dangerous precedent that we cannot allow to stand."
Hannity's comments come as the trial continues to cast a shadow over Trump's potential run for president in 2024.
The trial stems from a lawsuit filed by the New York Attorney General's office in 2019, alleging that Trump and his family fraudulently inflated their net worth to obtain favorable loans and tax breaks.
Trump has denied the allegations and has called the lawsuit a "witch hunt."
The trial is expected to last several weeks, and it remains unclear whether Trump will be found liable for any damages.
无论判决结果如何,这场诉讼都可能对特朗普的2024年总统竞选产生重大影响。如果特朗普被发现负有责任,可能会损害他的政治声誉并使其更难赢得大选。
