A political analyst warns that the Kamala Harris presidential campaign could face internal tension if polling numbers worsen, highlighting existing tensions within the organization.
The Harris campaign for the presidency has come under scrutiny amidst concerns that declining poll numbers could trigger "subtle finger-pointing" within the organization. Axios reporter Alex Thompson expressed these concerns during an appearance on "CNN This Morning."
Thompson attributed the possibility of internal conflict to a combination of factors, including the integration of individuals from various backgrounds into the Harris team. According to Thompson, the campaign includes members from Biden's former team, Harris's own staff, and operatives from Obama's 2012 campaign.

"As long as the polls are good, then things are going to keep going well," Thompson explained. "But if the polling ever turns south, there are a lot of, sort of, subtle tensions within this world, and you could start seeing some subtle finger pointing."
Thompson emphasized that the campaign maintained an underdog mentality, repeatedly using the term "underdog" as their talking point. However, he also noted that the Harris campaign appeared confident in its current standing and was strategically limiting media exposure.

"They feel that they can still coast, and let Donald Trump be the main character, and possibly still win," Thompson stated.
Despite the concerns raised, Harris has engaged in a limited number of interviews since securing the Democratic nomination. She has appeared on CNN and has participated in discussions with Black Journalists and the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).

Brian Fallon, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, downplayed concerns about the limited media appearances. He emphasized Harris's extensive media engagement during her tenure as vice president and indicated that a similar level of media exposure could be expected in the remaining 50 days leading up to Election Day.
Fallon explained, "the remaining 50 days of this campaign will look like… something closer to that."
As of now, the Harris campaign has not provided a response to requests for comment.
