Vice President Kamala Harris has taken a significant lead in fundraising over former President Donald Trump in the final stretch of the 2024 presidential race, according to new federal filings. Polls show a tight race in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.
Vice President Kamala Harris has amassed a substantial fundraising advantage over former President Donald Trump in the final months of the 2024 election race. According to filings with the Federal Election Commission, Harris raised nearly $190 million in August, quadrupling Trump's $44.5 million haul.
Harris's campaign also outspent Trump's by a wide margin, disbursing roughly $174 million last month. The majority of these expenditures were allocated to advertising campaigns aimed at introducing Harris to American voters after she replaced President Biden as the Democratic nominee two months ago.

In contrast, the Trump campaign listed just $61 million in expenditures, primarily directed toward media buys.
Despite her campaign's spending spree, Harris entered September with a significant cash-on-hand advantage of $235 million, compared to Trump's $135 million. This disparity reflects Harris's surge in fundraising since becoming her party's standard-bearer.

Both Harris and Trump utilize affiliated fundraising committees, which file reports on a different schedule. Combined, the Harris campaign and its allied committees raised $361 million in August, far exceeding the $130 million raised by the Trump campaign and its aligned committees.
Polls in the battleground state of Pennsylvania indicate a close race between Harris and Trump. A recent Fox News poll shows Harris leading Trump by only 2 points among likely voters, within the margin of error.

The poll also reveals that the race is particularly tight among undecided voters, with 12% of registered voters in Pennsylvania still unsure about their choice.
Vice President Harris's strong debate performance against Trump in Philadelphia earlier this month appears to have boosted her fundraising efforts. The Harris campaign raised $47 million from nearly 600,000 donors within 24 hours after the debate.

Republican National Committee Chair Michael Whatley acknowledged the fundraising deficit but expressed confidence in the Trump campaign's financial resources. He emphasized that the campaign had sufficient funding to reach its target audience and anticipated victory on Election Day.
The latest fundraising figures suggest Vice President Harris has gained a significant financial edge over former President Trump in the final stretch of the 2024 presidential race. However, polls in the battleground state of Pennsylvania indicate a tight contest, with undecided voters likely to play a pivotal role in determining the outcome.
