Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate choice, Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota, has come under fire from parent groups who question his record on children's health, education, and safety.

Vice President Kamala Harris' selection of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate in the 2024 presidential election has sparked controversy among parent groups who accuse him of being "anti-parent."

Tiffany Justice, co-founder of Moms for Liberty, characterized Walz as the "most anti-parent" candidate Harris could have chosen, citing his support for a law that allows out-of-state minors to seek gender-affirming care without parental consent.

"The idea that your child can move into Minnesota and somehow be transitioned behind your back or without your consent or knowledge — is nonsense and a true violation of parental rights," Justice stated.

Elizabeth McCauley, co-founder of The Virginia Mavens, echoed Justice's concerns, accusing Walz of prioritizing teachers unions and the transgender community over the health of children.

"He has ignored the science and the irreparable harm of, 'gender affirming care' and applauded the mutilation of young children and codified it into law," McCauley said.

In addition to his stance on gender-affirming care, Walz has also drawn criticism for his response to the 2020 George Floyd riots and his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Parent groups have accused Walz of being "soft on crime" and of allowing cities to burn for days during the riots.

"Walz is a soft on crime, anti-parent, woke candidate who has done more harm than good for the state of Minnesota," McCauley said.

Walz has also been criticized for imposing COVID-19 mandates that locked down schools and businesses, while exempting rioters from these restrictions.

"Walz was a COVID tyrant and locked down Minnesota. Except for rioters, though, that was apparently okay," Justice added.

President of Parents Defending Education, Nicole Neily, further criticized Walz's record on education, claiming that he has prioritized progressive ideology over academic standards.

"Gov. Walz's record on education deserves an F - even if we were to grade on a curve," Neily said.

Neily cited the state's new identity-politics focused ethnic studies requirement and the decline in student achievement as evidence of Walz's failure to prioritize education.

Despite the criticism, Walz has the backing of progressives such as Sen. Bernie Sanders, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and members of "the Squad."

Pelosi defended Walz against accusations of being a radical leftist, characterizing him as "right down the middle" and "a heartland of America Democrat."

Walz's office has not yet responded to a request for comment.
