Harvard graduate Shabbos Kestenbaum, a lifelong Democrat, expressed his disappointment with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's decision to drop charges against anti-Israel protesters who barricaded themselves inside Columbia University. Kestenbaum believes this action sets a dangerous precedent and that the Democratic party has abandoned Jewish Americans.
Harvard University graduate Shabbos Kestenbaum expressed his outrage and disappointment after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office decided to drop charges against dozens of anti-Israel protesters who barricaded themselves inside Columbia University in April. Kestenbaum, a lifelong Democrat, feels abandoned by the party and believes their actions have shown a lack of support for Jewish Americans.
"I've been a lifelong Democrat, but... I think the party has abandoned me, and it's unfortunate because I believe in many liberal and progressive values, but it seems like they don't believe in me and they don't believe in Jewish Americans," Kestenbaum said during an appearance on "Fox & Friends."

Kestenbaum joined protesters outside the Manhattan District Attorney's office on Monday to challenge the "dangerous precedent" set by dropping trespassing charges against the Columbia protesters. He questioned why Jewish Americans were being treated differently and why there was a lack of action to address antisemitic incidents.
"Why the double standards? Why the inaction? And it's not just New York City. We saw these antisemitic riots yesterday in L.A., and Joe Biden, who is in charge of the Department of Justice, can investigate these crimes. He can crack down on antisemitism and those who are violating the law, but there's either this inability or unwillingness to protect Jewish Americans," he said.

Kestenbaum finds it "shocking" that New Yorkers have to "beg" Bragg's office to prosecute crime in order to ensure "equity, justice and the rule of law." He believes Bragg's decision to drop the Columbia protesters' charges has eroded public trust and sent the wrong message to criminals.
Manhattan District Attorney's Office spokesperson Stephen Millan stated that there was insufficient evidence to prove any individual defendant damaged property or injured anyone. However, Kestenbaum remains skeptical and believes the office's actions show a bias against Jewish Americans.

"The office is continuing to pursue cases from both campuses, including all assaults against police officers," the DA's office said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "There are ongoing school disciplinary proceedings for the students who had their case dismissed."
Kestenbaum's concerns highlight growing frustration within the Jewish American community over what they perceive as a lack of support from the Democratic party and a rise in antisemitism. Recent incidents, such as the antisemitic riots in Los Angeles, have further fueled these concerns.
The debate over how to address antisemitism and support Jewish Americans is likely to continue, with Kestenbaum's outspoken criticism of the Democratic party serving as a catalyst for further discussion.
