Hayden Springer etched his name into the PGA Tour record books on Thursday, becoming just the 14th player to shoot a round of 59. The 30-year-old American fired an astonishing 11-under-par round at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, to set a new tournament record and cement his place in history.
Hayden Springer's historic round unfolded on the opening day of the John Deere Classic, a tournament held annually on the PGA Tour. The 30-year-old American, who had never previously recorded a round in the 60s on the PGA Tour, stunned spectators and fellow competitors alike with his exceptional performance.
Springer's round was a masterclass in ball-striking and putting precision. He opened his day with three consecutive birdies, setting the tone for a remarkable round to come. He then made four more birdies on the front nine, including a 35-foot putt that dropped on the 8th hole.

The back nine proved equally fruitful for Springer as he added five more birdies to his tally, including a spectacular eagle on the par-5 17th hole. He notched his final birdie on the 18th green, setting off a raucous celebration among the spectators who witnessed his historic feat.
Springer's remarkable round is only the 14th sub-60 score in PGA Tour history, and the first since Brandt Snedeker shot a 59 at the Wyndham Championship in 2018. It is also the lowest round ever recorded in the 50-year history of the John Deere Classic.
The record-breaking round has propelled Springer into contention for the tournament title. He holds a three-shot lead over his nearest rivals, including defending champion Lucas Glover and rising star Collin Morikawa.
Springer, who is still seeking his first PGA Tour victory, is relishing the opportunity to compete for a maiden win on the historic course. "It's an amazing feeling," he said after his round. "I've been working hard for this, and it's finally starting to pay off."
The John Deere Classic will conclude on Sunday, with Springer hoping to build on his record-breaking start and capture his first PGA Tour title. His historic round has not only etched his name into the tournament record books, but it has also positioned him as a potential winner in Silvis, Illinois.
