Historic Medals Awarded in Paris 2024 Olympics: China Secures First Gold, Kazakhstan Garners Bronze

The 2024 Paris Olympics have commenced with the distribution of the first Olympic medals. Chinese shooters Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao triumphed in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team for China's first gold, while Kazakhstan's Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev secured the first bronze medal of the Games.
The 2024 Paris Olympics have officially begun, with the first Olympic medals being awarded in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team event. China's Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao emerged victorious, earning the first gold medal of the Games with a score of 16-12 over South Korea's Keum Ji-hyeon and Park Ha-jun.
This victory marked a significant milestone for Huang, who claimed her maiden Olympic medal in the sport, and Sheng, who secured his second Olympic medal after winning a silver in the 10-meter air rifle at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. China's triumph also added to their impressive tally of 68 medals in shooting, with 27 of those being gold medals.

Kazakhstan's Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev made history by claiming the first bronze medal of the Paris Olympics. They defeated Germany's Anna Janssen and Maximilian Ulbrich with a convincing 17-5 scoreline. Le and Satpayev had previously triumphed over Great Britain's Seonaid McIntosh and Michael Bargeron on Thursday.
The bronze medal extended Kazakhstan's impressive medal haul at the Olympics. In 2021, the team secured eight bronze medals in Tokyo, adding to their impressive total of 17 medals at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.

In the battle for gold, China's Yang Qian and Yang Haoran clinched victory over the United States' Mary Tucker and Lucas Kozeniesky. The Russian Olympic Committee's Yulia Karimova and Sergey Kamenskiy earned the bronze medal, surpassing South Korea's Kwon Eun-ji and Nam Tae-yun.
