Horrific Roadside Abduction and Sexual Assault: Texas Woman Shares Location with Police, Leading to Quick Arrest

A Texas woman escaped a nightmare scenario after being kidnapped and sexually assaulted by a stranger who offered assistance with her flat tire. Using her smartphone, she shared her location with authorities, enabling them to swiftly apprehend the suspect.

On May 16, a woman driving through Austin, Texas, found herself stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire. As she waited for assistance, a seemingly helpful stranger pulled over and offered to help. However, his intentions turned sinister when he lured her into his vehicle and subjected her to a terrifying ordeal.

Reynaldo Tapia-Arcibar, 31, has been charged with aggravated kidnapping and sexual abuse after the incident. According to an affidavit reviewed by Fox 7 Austin, he initially pretended to take the woman to get a replacement tire but then locked the car doors and drove her to an apartment complex. There, he sexually assaulted her before she managed to escape.

As the woman fled the scene, she sent her location to a friend and called 911. Her quick thinking and the ability to share her location played a crucial role in the rapid police response. Within 10 minutes, authorities arrived at the apartment complex where she had been held captive.

Police spotted a man matching the woman's description leaving an apartment and placed Tapia-Arcibar under arrest. His bond was set at $50,000, and he was ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor and have no contact with the woman if released.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dangers of accepting assistance from strangers. Austin Police Association President Michael Bullock urged those waiting for roadside assistance to call the police or ask for the name and vehicle details of the responding service. If the situation feels unsafe, it is advisable to leave the vehicle and seek help elsewhere.
