In the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Trump, "The View" co-host Sunny Hostin has vehemently called for gun control measures.
During a passionate discussion on the show, Hostin denounced the tragedy and demanded an honest and meaningful dialogue on the role of guns in society.

"I say now is the time to talk about the common denominator when it came to this assassination attempt, is America's fascination and obsession with owning guns," Hostin asserted.
Hostin expressed concern that the incident would lead to a surge in gun ownership, further exacerbating the gun violence crisis. She emphasized the urgent need for legislation to address the rampant proliferation of firearms.

Ana Navarro, another anti-Trump host, weighed in by invoking the race of the killer, Thomas Matthew Brooks. "We need to react not as left or right, not as Republicans or Democrats. We need to react as Americans, and we need to ask better," Navarro said.
Joy Behar's commentary focused on the lack of reporting on the killer's purchase of ammunition prior to the attack. She questioned why no one had raised concerns about a 20-year-old White man acquiring such firepower.

Alyssa Farah Griffin and Navarro condemned the assassination attempt and expressed gratitude for Trump's safety. President Biden also denounced the incident and called for an end to political violence.
"President Biden came out and did exactly what he should," Hostin said, praising his response. She suggested that the near-death experience may serve as a wake-up call for Trump, potentially leading to a shift in his rhetoric.
The assassination attempt has sparked a renewed debate on gun control, with many voices calling for stricter regulations and comprehensive reforms to combat gun violence in the United States.
