Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) told Fox News Digital that the plea "absolutely" affirms the accusations and findings GOP lawmakers have levied against the first family since before President Biden took office. He accused Hunter's defenders of trying to "wreck [whistleblowers'] careers" and warned that a presidential pardon would be an "abuse of power."

House Ways & Means Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.) echoed Davidson's sentiments, stating that the guilty plea upholds the testimony of whistleblowers who came to his panel. He added that it remains to be seen whether President Biden will "abuse the power of his office" to protect his son from the consequences of his crimes.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) also co-led the probe into Hunter Biden and said, "Hunter Biden is finally admitting the obvious: he didn't pay taxes on income he received by selling access to his father, Joe Biden."

Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas), a member of the Oversight Committee, emphasized that Hunter Biden's plea deal should not distract from the wider investigation into the Biden family's influence peddling scheme. He accused the Bidens of amassing millions of dollars by selling political access to the "big guy," Joe Biden.

GOP lawmakers like Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) warned Biden not to pardon his son, calling Hunter's plea deal a "bait-and-switch" stunt to avoid a trial that would expose his father's alleged role in the family's business dealings.

The White House has repeatedly denied that President Biden would pardon his son, but Republican skepticism remains high. Democrats, on the other hand, have pushed back on the accusations against the Biden family, dismissing them as political attacks.

House Republicans have been investigating the Biden family for years, and they are determined to hold them accountable for any wrongdoing they may have committed.
