The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Tuesday that its troops have achieved operational control of the Gazan side of the Rafah Crossing. The move comes as part of a wider counterterrorism operation aimed at dismantling Hamas infrastructure and targeting Hamas terrorists in eastern Rafah.

Prior to the commencement of the operation, the IDF urged inhabitants of eastern Rafah to seek temporary refuge in the extended humanitarian zone in Al-Mawasi. The IDF assisted in the expansion of field hospitals, tents, and the distribution of food, water, and medical supplies in the area.

Acting on the intelligence gathered, IDF forces secured operational control of the Gazan side of the Rafah Crossing. Mortars were fired from the area during the operation, resulting in the tragic deaths of four IDF soldiers and injuries to several others.
