Anthony Michael Hall, a key member of the iconic '80s group "The Brat Pack," has revealed his reasons for opting out of Andrew McCarthy's recent documentary, "Brats." "I was asked to be a part of it, but you know what, I'll tell you my attitude is you have to wish everyone success," Hall said. "It was just something I chose not to do because I'm always trying to move forward and make new things and do new stuff."

Hall emphasized that while he has always embraced his involvement in the Brat Pack films, he is eager to explore different roles and projects. "The truth is, I've had to embrace the John Hughes period of my life all my career, and I'm happy to do so, obviously, as I've hopefully relayed here. It's never been an issue for me. But I also think time has taught me you have to wish everyone success."

In a previous interview with Fox News Digital, Hall expressed his gratitude for the opportunities that the Brat Pack films provided, but also acknowledged the challenges of rising to fame at such a young age. "I didn't anticipate any of it. It was challenging. It certainly took some adjusting. The idea of being recognized, it's awkward for adults. But it's magnified at that age when you're already dealing with all kinds of insecurities," he said.

Hall's absence from McCarthy's documentary is part of a larger trend of notable exclusions. Molly Ringwald and Judd Nelson also declined to participate. Nelson told Us Weekly that he "politely declined" due to his discomfort with rehashing the Brat Pack era. Ringwald had previously expressed her dislike for the term "Brat Pack," describing it as objectifying and unfair.

Despite the absences, McCarthy's documentary has sparked conversations about the Brat Pack's legacy and the impact it had on its members. McCarthy himself has stated that while the term was initially met with disdain, it has since become a symbol of nostalgia and affection.

In a recent interview with People magazine, McCarthy explained that the Brat Pack label had mixed consequences. "It had professional ramifications. The public embraced us, but the business reacted to it in a negative way," he said.

Despite the complexities of their Brat Pack experience, Hall and his fellow actors continue to carve out their own paths in the entertainment industry. Hall, who has starred in films such as "Weird Science" and "The Breakfast Club," is currently focusing on his writing and directing endeavors.

His absence from "Brats" is a testament to his commitment to moving forward and embracing new challenges, while still acknowledging the significant role that the Brat Pack played in his life and career.
