Irish teacher Enoch Burke has been arrested for a third time since he first criticized his school two years ago for pushing transgender ideology. Burke was arrested outside Wilson's Hospital School in County Westmeath, where he previously worked as a history and German teacher, and later transported to Mountjoy Prison, a Dublin men's jail.
In a move that has sparked controversy, Irish police have arrested teacher Enoch Burke for a third time over his opposition to the school's transgender policy. Burke, a former history and German teacher at Wilson's Hospital School in County Westmeath, was arrested on Monday outside the school premises.
Burke's arrest stems from his refusal to address a transgender student by their preferred name and pronouns. He was initially suspended from his job in September 2022 and later jailed for "contempt of court" after violating a High Court order to stay away from the school during his disciplinary review.

According to Burke, he could not "in conscience" obey the order, leading to his imprisonment in Mountjoy Prison from December 2022 until June 2023. However, he violated the court order once again in September 2023, resulting in his second arrest and imprisonment.
Burke's latest arrest has been met with both support and criticism. Supporters argue that Burke is standing up for his beliefs and protecting children from transgender ideology. Critics, on the other hand, accuse Burke of being disruptive and disrespectful of the rights of transgender individuals.

The case has also raised concerns about freedom of speech and religious freedom in Ireland. Burke is a devout Christian who believes that transgenderism goes against his religious beliefs. Some observers have argued that his arrest represents an infringement on his right to express his views.
Meanwhile, Burke's former employer, Wilson's Hospital School, has declined to comment on the situation. The school has previously defended its transgender policy, stating that it is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students.

Burke's case is set to be reviewed again on October 11th. Until then, he will remain at Mountjoy Prison. The outcome of his case will be closely watched by both supporters and critics of transgender rights and freedom of expression in Ireland.
