In a fireside chat at the Aspen Security Forum, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan outlined the Biden administration's foreign policy priorities, emphasizing the importance of strengthening alliances, restoring America's credibility, and addressing global challenges.

**MR. SEVASTOPULO:** You know, it's no secret that President Biden is under a lot of pressure from Democrats and Democratic donors to drop out of the race. I know that you've been involved in those conversations. Can you tell us a little bit about what's going on behind the scenes?

**MR. SULLIVAN:** Well, I can tell you that President Biden is fully committed to running for reelection. He believes that he is the best person to lead our country, and he is determined to continue fighting for the values that he believes in.

Now, I know that there are some people who are concerned about his age. But I can tell you that he is as sharp as ever. He's got a lot of energy. And he's more determined than ever to make a difference in the world.

I think it's important to remember that President Biden has a lifetime of experience in public service. He's served in the Senate for over 30 years. He's been vice president. And he's now president. So he knows how to get things done.

He's also a man of character. He's honest. He's trustworthy. And he's compassionate. I think those are all qualities that we need in a leader.

So I'm confident that President Biden will be reelected. And I'm confident that he will continue to make America a better place for all of us.

**MR. SEVASTOPULO:** Thank you. I think that's very reassuring.

Let me ask you about another issue that's been in the news a lot lately: the war in Ukraine. What is the Biden administration's strategy for dealing with Russia?

**MR. SULLIVAN:** Our strategy is to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. We're providing Ukraine with military assistance, economic assistance, and humanitarian assistance. We're also working with our allies and partners to isolate Russia and impose sanctions on the Russian economy.

We believe that Russia must be held accountable for its actions. We will not allow Russia to bully its neighbors or redraw the borders of Europe by force.

We also believe that this is a fight for the future of democracy. If Russia is allowed to succeed in Ukraine, it will send a message to other authoritarian regimes around the world that they can get away with aggression.

So we're determined to stand with Ukraine and to help them win this war.

**MR. SEVASTOPULO:** Thank you. That's very clear.

One last question: what are the Biden administration's priorities for the Indo-Pacific region?

**MR. SULLIVAN:** The Indo-Pacific region is a critical area for the future of the United States. It's home to some of the world's most dynamic economies. It's also a region where there are a number of potential flashpoints.

Our strategy for the Indo-Pacific is to build a free and open region that is based on the rule of law. We want to see a region where all countries can prosper and where disputes are resolved peacefully.

We're working with our allies and partners to promote a rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific. We're also working to strengthen our military presence in the region and to deepen our economic ties with the countries of the region.

We believe that the United States has a vital interest in a free and open Indo-Pacific. And we're determined to work with our allies and partners to achieve that goal.
