In a speech to the Faith & Freedom Coalition, JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, emphasized the importance of social conservative values and assured those in attendance that they would continue to have a place in the Republican Party.

Despite concerns that the Republican Party has been drifting away from religious and socially conservative values, JD Vance, the party's vice presidential nominee, has reassured social conservatives that they will always have a seat at the table.

In a speech to the Faith & Freedom Coalition's God & Country Breakfast, Vance addressed concerns that the Republican Party no longer welcomes social conservatives. "There has been a lot of rumbling in the past few weeks that the Republican Party of now and the Republican Party of the future is not going to be a place that's welcoming to social conservatives. And really, from the bottom of my heart, I want to say that is not true," Vance told the audience.

"Social conservatives have a seat at this table, and they always will, so long as I have any influence in this party. And President Trump, I know, agrees," Vance added.

Vance's remarks come amid concerns that the Republican Party has softened its stance on social policy issues, including abortion. The party's platform, recently drafted by Trump supporters, no longer includes a federal abortion ban, a departure from previous platforms. The new platform also emphasizes that abortion should be handled by the states and supports access to birth control and IVF treatments.

Vance's own stance on abortion has also raised eyebrows among pro-life advocates. In an interview with "Meet the Press," Vance said that he supports the abortion pill mifepristone "being accessible" following the Supreme Court's ruling against pro-life advocates who sued to end its FDA approval.

Despite Vance's comments on abortion, he emphasized the importance of Christian faith in his life. "What really brought me back to Christ was finding a wife and falling in love and thinking about what was required of me as a husband and as a father," Vance said. "And the more that I thought about those deeper questions, the more that I thought that there was wisdom in the Christian faith that I had completely discarded and completely ignored, but was most relevant to the questions that were presented in my life as a husband and father."
